Haircut

Over 6 months! I haven't had my hair this long since high school(mid 80's) It was a good run. It was heading towards an Asian surfer look, with the puka chain, funky tee shirts, sunglasses on top, and open toed sandals. I had lots of comments (good and bad), and everyone...that means everyone, has their opinion on my hair. I find that people liked it if it looked like them (short likes short, long likes long). But you know, I liked it (to a point), because it was in my control. On certain things, I don't like to comply to the norm, but on core issues, i'm pretty conservative.

CCTV

A Chinnese equivalent to CNN.
For the last 5 days, that's what's been on the TV. We cancelled DISH network and ordered Comcast cable tv, but won't get installed until 5 days later. In the meantime, the only programs left on the dish are CCTV, a religious channel, and the dish info channel. It's been 100 degree days this weekend and with two toddlers asking for cartoons, you can bet we've been having cabin fever.

It's been interesting watching CCTV. It's an all-english speaking world news channel with Asians and English reporters based in Beijing. It's cool to see what's going on around the world, we really do have a lot of freedoms here is the US. I did notice that a lot of asians do wear glasses.

Hurry, Comcast cable TV....hurry!

My glasses History

I remember the first time i got my glasses in the 7th grade. I went to the Dr's office, not even knowing i needed glasses, and did all the usual eye tests. A little intimidating with all the machines up close to my face, not to mension the Dr an inch from my nose checking the back of my eyes. All i was thinking was "don't move" and "why is this guy so close?". Two weeks later, i got my glasses. I put them on, and,....Wow! the world is now new! I can see every leaf on a tree! I kept taking them on and off and seeing the difference. I was pretty excited about it. Until i went to school, and felt the pressure of redicule (probably all my insecurities). It was actually fine, no real bad teasings, maybe a day or so. After a while, it seemed like i would hide behind my glasses, thinking that they can't see my eyes, like when i get zits, i'd put on my glasses and magically the zit is gone. funny. Anyway, glasses became part of me and i got into cool frames.

until i finally got my Lasik surgery, at age 33. (another story).
